ANXIETY
Anxiety is a feeling of fear or worry about a future event. Anxiety is a natural and normal feeling, although sometimes it can be problematic. You need some anxiety in your life because it can keep you safe, and can guide decision making. If you didn’t have any anxiety, you wouldn’t set an alarm for the next day, take your medications, and your decision making would be so aloof that you would be in unsafe situations often.
Anxiety disorders happen when anxiety is so severe that it significantly hinders your functioning, leading to excessive worry about day to day events. This leads to both physical and psychological symptoms that can be detrimental to health and overall wellbeing. The symptoms often lead to avoiding people, places, and situations, which can have a significant impact on overall functioning. Feeling worried often, tense, Symptoms include not being able to stop or control worry, feeling restless or overly tired, difficulty relaxing, becoming easily annoyed or agitated, and feeling like something awful is about to happen.
Therapy has been shown to provide relief and symptom reduction often within a few sessions! It isn’t an easy fix, although relief can happen quickly.
